Introduction
A talk from the Chemicals Summit - Hydrocarbon Processing Symposium
Presented by Chris Goss, Research Technologist at InnoTech Alberta, whom focus on cutting-edge science and technology for processing bitumen, heavy oil, and tailings. This presentation discusses the use of the universal vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) spectroscopic detector to achieve required detection limits, method dynamic range, and accuracy for the identification, and deconvolution of olefins, which are difficult to identify by other analytical methods. Olefins and diolefins are studied due to the effect they can have in the transportation and stability of upgraded bitumen and refined products.
