Introduction
GCMS instruments are normally equipped with a single GC column. Having a second column installed and ready-to-go can be useful. For example, a second column of a different phase chemistry can potentially separate peaks coeluting on the first column, or a second column can be chosen with a shorter length or thinner phase to help elute highly retained compounds. Here we present an inexpensive way to allow two columns to be interfaced into a mass spectrometer and available for selection to match the task at hand.
