Introduction

A talk from the Chemicals Summit - Hydrocarbon Processing Symposium

Presented by Chris Goss, Research Technologist at InnoTech Alberta, whom focus on cutting-edge science and technology for processing bitumen, heavy oil, and tailings. Live crude oil contains a variety of volatile components and requires methods development to achieve an accurate composition of crude for processing, spill hazards, corrosive gas content, and vapor pressure, as well as for achieving a representative sample and transfer into the gas chromatography (GC) system without any loss of the volatile components. This presentation explores several methods developed to accurately measure the volatile components of live crude oil.
