Introduction

The analysis of organic solvents by ICP-OES can be challenging for several reasons: plasma stability, carbon deposition in the instrument (such as on the injector and torch), and complex spectral background from carbon. However, each of these challenges can be overcome with appropriate choices of sample introduction, plasma, and method conditions, resulting in more accurate analyses and lower detection limits.

This work discusses how to overcome the challenges of organic solvent analysis leveraging the Avio® Max ICP-OES series, thanks to instrumental design characteristics along with appropriate sample intro, plasma, and method parameters.
